Bath’s premier award-winning a cappella group are back for their eighth year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! Having enjoyed sold out shows at Ed Fringe in 2022 and 2023 and the opportunity to perform on Broadway last year, Aquapella are somewhat the cream of the crop in this environment and this show seeks to showcase the power of the human voice through an array of unique arrangements. This brand new set offers a diverse and eclectic selection of music genres from indie and pop bangers to contemporary ballads.

As expected with these seasoned pros, the vocals are outstanding. The arrangements allow for lovely dynamics and the choreography is slick and polished and performed in sync. Aquapella feel like a well oiled machine, but their performance is very similar to 2023’s and at times felt lacking personality. It would also be great to hear some more male voices. This doesn’t take away from the performance as it is brilliantly executed and is an example of how smooth a capella can sound. With a new album, ‘Until Then’, coming out recently Aquapella are set to continue their reign as one of the best a capella groups.
