This year The Techtonics return to Edinburgh’s Fringe with an a capella comedy… about Liz Truss. The all-male a capella group from Imperial College London take the audience on a journey through the 44 days that Liz Truss was prime minister. The Techtonics are used to a stage after being former champions of the ICCAs and performing across the East and West Coasts of the United States, continental Europe, and Hong Kong! This year, they are mixing their perfect harmonies with hilarious comedy.
This performance shows that The Techtonics are far more than just an a capella group – they are also great actors and comedians. The show mixes acting and comedy brilliantly with superb musical numbers, many of which have original lyrics.
This is a fun parody about the short leadership of Liz Truss, it sticks to the ridiculous facts of her 44 days in power and takes the audience along for the ride. The songs are upbeat and performed brilliantly by a very talented cast. Each voice is utilised and the harmonies are fantastic. The clever arrangement of well known songs to include original lyrics to tell the story is excellent and something not found in many other a capella shows. Whether you know the highs and lows of Liz Truss’ journey or not The Techtonics’ hilarious, lively parody is perfect for politicians and musical fans alike.
