Acid’s Reign – Ed Fringe 2026

Acid’s Reign: Forth at Pleasance Courtyard

★★★★★

Acid’s Reign mixes two unlikely combinations – drag queens and climate change. In this new musical a new drag supergroup burst on the scene, intent on challenging climate change. With a live band and powerhouse vocals from drag superstars including Victoria Scone, Scarlett Harlett and Gigi Zahir, Acid’s Reign aims to be ‘provocative, camp and razor-sharp’.

The outfits are dazzling, the set is glittering and this show is full of heart. The score by Gabriel Chernick is excellent with a range of upbeat, pop inspired numbers to heartbreaking ballads and solo moments. There are plenty of witty jokes and one liners but fundamentally this is a show about friendship and is surprisingly heartfelt and emotional. Acid’s Reign is a full blown professional musical with a moving plot to match. The characters are larger than life but also flawed, with their own insecurities and doubts which makes them all the more raw and relatable.

For this performance the cast consisted of two swings Ariana Grace and Mikey Wooster alongside Ash Weir, Scarlett Harlett and Gigi Zahir and they were all superb, witty and funny but also able to show true emotion and grit. As shown on their bio climate change is part of the story, as is fame and fortune but most of all the story is about friendship and honesty – being there for each other.

Acid’s Reign shows there is much more to drag than people think. It is a spectacle. A clever, poignant musical with powerhouse vocals, an excellent message and of course, glorious costumes. Definitely take the chance to see Acid’s Reign whilst you can – you won’t be disappointed!
