Returning for their third year, Full Score are back bringing the best of barbershop to the Fringe. Having performed across the UK, Full Score have combined some of their award-winning quartets and vibrant full-chorus numbers into a ___ show.

Cutting Edge provides a fantastic showcase of barbershop in this year’s Edinburgh Fringe show. As well as being great entertainment, the group also attempt to teach the audience a thing or two about barbershop and their introduction into each voice group works especially well.

There is a nice mixture of quartets and ensemble numbers in this 50 minute set. ‘Moon River’ is performed beautifully and the Hunchback of Notredame section showcased the group’s ability to tell a story through song with great dynamics thrown in.

Musical Director, Luis, works hard to ensure the singers perform together to create a beautiful sound and the arrangements are great. Cutting Edge doesn’t haven’t the tricks and choreography that you associate with a cappella singing, instead they focus solely on the vocals and do so very well. Whilst the set could benefit from more diversity, perhaps some more upbeat or modern hits, it is certainly enjoyable.

For many this may be the first time hearing barbershop and it’s a great introduction by this talented group. Full Score are definitely one to watch out for. Grab a ticket for this one, sit back and enjoy smooth vocals and gorgeous harmonies.
